After the tragic news of René Angélil's death, Celine Dion's brother Daniel has now also passed away.
Angélil died on Thursday at the age of 73 after a long battle with cancer. Sadly, Daniel passed of the same disease on Saturday.
In a statement, the family said he passed in peace:
"Battling cancer for a few years, it's in the uttermost discretion and surrounded by his family that Daniel Dion, 59, died today, January 16. He was the eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion, brother of Céline."
Celine has not yet shared a public statement, but she has canceled her January 16 and 17 performances. Following her husband's death, she is left to raise sons Nelson, René-Charles, and Eddy on her own.
Daniel leaves behind two daughters, Valérie and Marie-Michelle.
Celine's recent cover of Adele's "Hello" touched hearts across the world, the video of her Las Vegas performance quickly becoming a hit. The NYE concert marked her return to the stage after taking time off to care for Angélil.
We wish she and her family all the best in this very difficult time.
