In a series of incredibly fortunate events, Netflix is developing the A Series of Unfortunate Events book series into their own TV adaptation. The first step? Recruit Neil Patrick Harris as the story's leading misanthrope, Count Olaf.
On Friday, Harris tweeted his "excitedish" feelings about the role.

Young adults will remember Unfortunate Events as Lemony Snicket's (Daniel Handler IRL) 13-book series detailing depressing and tragic adventures. After three kids' parents die in a fire, they're left with relative Count Olaf, whose sole ambition is to steal their sizable inheritance. The books were released from 1999 to 2006, and though sobering, won hearts with their exciting plots and bizarre style.
The book was first brought alive via Jim Carrey in 2004, the film's $30 million opening weekend winning Nickelodeon its highest grossing movie project until 2010's The Last Airbender.
This time, author Handler will serve as executive producer of the Netflix series, ensuring it's made as true to his imagination as possible.
No premiere date yet, but we're very much looking forward to digging into the first season. Considering the tragic plight of the Baudelaires, the show is sure to be our cure for a bad day.
