Happy Birthday, Britney Spears! Here Are Her Top Songs of All Time
Bauer Griffin

Pop princess Britney Spears celebrated her 34th birthday on Tuesday, but truly, with a career like hers, every day should be a celebration.

16 years down and a lifetime to go, there are few musical honors the Louisiana girl hasn't received. Her first album, 1999's ...Baby One More Time, remains the best-selling album by a teen solo artist, she was the best-selling female artist of the 2000s, and to top it off, the star has sold over 100 million albums universally.

Spears is one of the most successful artists of all time.

Conveniently for us, along with that title comes a whole load of catchy pop tunes.

They've gotten us in the mood to party, in the mood to break up, and out of the mood to succumb to lethargy — even when a workout sounded way too daunting.

Here are just a few of her top songs thus far.

"...Baby One More Time"

Remember when this song came out and overly concerned mothers across nations gathered in hordes, plucking and picketing, their singular goal to ensure kids didn't take its "violent" lyrics seriously?

"Outrage!" they said. "Scandal!" they said. "Debauchery!" they said. "The devil's tongue!" the creepy ones said.

Then the youth were like, "Wat?" and the moms went blank for a sec before being like, "Oh, alright, as you were."

...just us?

Whatever the case, the single's controversial schoolgirl-themed music video likely only contributed to its massive chart success. The song was #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 for two weeks straight, making it her most popular song of all time.

"Toxic"

"Toxic" was Spears' first journey into the piercing electro-beats to which the '00s music scene was gravitating.

It was also "that song" — the one that unceremoniously reminded you of whomever you were expressly attempting not to remember. The term graduated from something poisonous and wicked to an item with a little more sex appeal...also not helpful to the cause.

Thanks, Brit.

"If U Seek Amy"

Quick question: What were you doing when you realized what this song was actually expressing? We were on Facebook.

Thanks, Brit and Mark Zuckerberg.

Regardless, "If U Seek Amy" was a landmark track for Spears, one of the most popular songs from her "comeback" album, Circus

"Stronger"

Despite what critics said, Spears is a beacon of female empowerment, and "Stronger" was the perfect example.

A hit song detailing the tale of an individual who would no longer allow their heart to be fooled around with, few people fail to relate to its story in some way.

Released in 2001, it was undoubtedly the breakup song of the year.

"Work B**ch"

"Work B**ch" is a surprisingly motivating song, and provides the normals of the world an elusive peek into Spears' mentality.

16 years of hardcore workouts, performances, and unquantifiable criticism could only be weathered by someone with a work ethic unlike any other.

Happy 34th birthday, Britney! You are now and forever the Princess of Pop.

Oh, wait...
