Aretha Franklin showed all the young starlets how it’s really done during her performance at the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C. on Tuesday night. The Queen of Soul absolutely slayed when she sang “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” for the packed crowd, which included President Obama and honoree Carole King, who co-wrote the iconic 1968 song.
Dressed in a fur coat, the 73-year-old started off playing the piano while she sang, then eventually stood up to rock out. She pretty much brought the entire room to tears as only a true icon can.
Carole King's freakout when Franklin hits the stage is adorable.
But Viola Davis' YASSSS GIRL moment is also terrific.
Along with Franklin, many others paid tribute to Carole King’s long career, including James Taylor, Janelle Monae, Sara Bareilles, and John Kerry. Cicely Tyson, Seiji Ozawa, The Eagles, George Lucas, and Rita Moreno were also honored at the event.
