Every year, a few stand-out actors, actresses, and personalities make themselves known. We're not quite sure what it is about these newbie stars that shines so bright, but we are sure we'll be seeing them doing big things in a very short time.
Here are 2016's stars to watch.
Stepanka
Stephanie Matto, or "Stepanka" as her YouTube viewers know her, has built a popular brand based solely on her personality — though her adorable pug Frank probably doesn't hurt either.
Presenting herself as both an actress and a YouTuber, the 25-year-old has documented her adventures trying to make it in LA and bared her roots on the East Coast with a hint of the Czech flavor that defines her background.
Though she's had her channel since 2012, it didn't take off until this year. She's now amassed nearly 10 million views and 120,000 subscribers. Her first book, Mean Boys & Memories: A compilation of my most hideous, outrageous, and embarrassing moments, was released in August.
Oh, the power of a cute dog.
Dash Williams
Initially known for a recurring role on the YouTube series Kids React, Dash has now gone on to tackle the small screen. After scoring multiple roles on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2013, the tiny aspiring actor went on to play Brian on ABC's Fresh off the Boat this year.
Though his thespian talents are impressive, it's an even better time to watch this kid's candid responses to just about anything:
His acting ability, paired with an obvious ambition and hilariously dry personality mark him as big star material in our books.
Eliza Taylor
26-year-old Eliza Taylor was best known as Janae Timmins from Australian TV series Neighbours until 2014, when the actress was cast in the starring role for The CW's The 100. Eliza has played Clarke Griffin for two years, and will continue the role in the show's third season, which premieres on January 21.
While we're happy to watch her on-screen performances, it's her real life personality and social presence that brings this one home. Eliza manages to be fun and relatable, all while juggling the quirks of the badass character she spends half of her life portraying.
Also, her grandma is Mrs. Clause, so...
Britney Lee Saunders
If this were purely a collection of inspiring young people, Britney Lee Saunders would be first on the list.
After meeting her as a blunt, funny Australian girl via YouTube, viewers have come to learn that she's also a talented singer, owner of a natural makeup line, and isn't afraid to share how she got there: a whole lot of dead-end jobs.
We're sure to be seeing Britney in bigger places soon, and we can't wait to see what's to come for her.
Phoebe Dahl
Phoebe is best known for being Orange Is the New Black actress Ruby Rose's ex-fiancee, but the way we see it, she's an up-and-coming star in her own right.
As if the fact that she's author Roald Dahl's granddaughter doesn't make her interesting enough, the 27-year-old is both the creator and owner of a charitable clothing line called Faircloth & Supply. Her self-proclaimed goal in life is to empower women, and though her industry doesn't make it easy, we truly believe she can accomplish that goal.
