Ever since Gwen Stefani's separation from husband Gavin Rossdale, rumors have swirled that the reason for that separation was less than wholesome. According to reports, the father of Stefani's three sons had a long-time affair with one of the family's nannies. Now, regardless of the claim's verity, Stefani is putting her feelings out there the best way she knows how.
In a recent episode of The Voice, the 46-year-old performed "Used To Love You," a newly released single inspired by the unfortunate conclusion of her 13-year relationship.
The song's lyrics include such statements as:
"You go, I'll stay
You can keep all the memories
I thought I was the best thing that ever happened to you
I thought you loved me the most
"I don't know why I cry
But I think it's cause I remembered for the first time
Since I hated you
That I used to love you"
It seemed that everyone was privy to the importance of Stefani's song on a personal level, as the crowd was nearly as supportive as co-host and boyfriend Blake Shelton. Prior to the show, Shelton had raved to reporters about his girlfriend's angelic outfit and ability, and following the performance, was sure to offer a standing ovation.
Stefani has been open about her sadness, but she's also been transparent when it comes to the happiness Shelton provides her.
Relationships don't always last, but for now, we'll say it: Score one for the cowboy.
